Sponsor an Internship
As a faculty sponsor, you play a crucial role in bridging the gap between students’ academic learning and their real-world internship experiences. By fostering meaningful reflection, you help students deepen their understanding and maximize the educational value of their internships.
Your involvement begins by meeting with a student who has independently secured an internship opportunity. Together, you will assess whether the experience aligns with your academic discipline and determine the most appropriate course for awarding credit. You will then support the student in identifying potential learning outcomes and clarifying the expectations required to earn academic credit. This process is guided by the Learning Agreement form.

What Role Does ASC Play in Academic Internships?
- We assist students with questions regarding timing of an internship, finding an internship, and registering for academic credit.
- We facilitate the registration process by collecting learning agreements and approvals from all stakeholders and collaborate with the Registrar’s office.
- We collect a Statement of Understanding (SOU) from employers on behalf of the student and Pacific Lutheran University.
- We help students find funding for internship-related expenses.
