PLU’s Theatre and Dance Department is pleased to announce our brand new Musical Theatre program!  Bringing together the best of PLU’s Theatre, Dance and Music, our BFA degree in Musical Theatre offers an array of dynamic and challenging course work and production experiences.

At PLU, we believe in the right for all students to achieve their educational goals and to that end our Musical Theatre degree program does not have a separate audition requirement.  If you are accepted into PLU, you can register to be a Musical Theatre major!  Our scholarship auditions, called Artistic Achievement Awards, occur in January and February each year.  Please click here for more information about those auditions.

PLU Theatre and Dance produces 9 productions a year in addition to performance offerings through PLU Music.  Musical Theatre students have opportunities annually to perform in our large-scale musical, 2 musical revues, 2 dance concerts, a large-scale opera and opera scene performances in addition to choirs, plays, improv performances and other opportunities.  First year students may get cast immediately and may audition for as many productions as they wish.

Transitioning students to the profession following graduation is important to us.  We therefore offer courses such as The Profession of Theatre, Theatre Management and Capstone to help students learn about the profession (unions, agents, etc.) and develop their portfolios.  We also have internship opportunities with local theatres to support student learning and to provide additional performance opportunities.

A listing of our Musical Theatre courses may be found here.
