Part V. – FACULTY ELECTIONS

Section 1. ELECTION POLICIES

  1. Faculty elections are conducted electronically.
  2. Ballots are normally to be completed within one week after distribution.
  3. Elections are conducted jointly by the Governance Committee and the faculty secretary, who acts jointly with the chair of the Governance Committee to officially certify the election results.
  4. After each election, a statement is issued to inform the faculty of the names of candidates who have been elected and of the positions still to be filled.
  5. At its discretion, the Governance Committee may inform the faculty of the total ballot count and of the rate of return of ballots.

Section 2. SENATE ELECTIONS

  1. Senate elections are normally conducted in March.
  2. The governance committee manages nominations.  Candidates for senate elections must nominate themselves or agree to be nominated.
  3. The first request for nominations goes to the academic unit or group a senator represents.  If no one from that unit or group is willing to be nominated, the position is opened to any regular faculty member.
