Despite a long and lingering winter, it is almost time for PLU students to begin planning for summer. Instructors and advisers have an opportunity to talk with students about the advantages of participating in Summer Sessions. Consider how online summer courses at PLU can meet a variety of student needs:
PLU online summer courses are budget-friendly and have a reduced undergraduate tuition rate of $390 per credit hour in comparison to the regular undergraduate summer tuition rate of $720. Summer Sessions helps students stay connected to PLU and provides the high-quality PLU experience that distinguishes our summer courses from those provided by local community colleges. PLU online courses are prepared and delivered by PLUTO-trained faculty.
Like other institutions, PLU strives to help students graduate on-time. Whether a student is on track to graduate in four or six years, research indicates that attending summer classes after the first year of college can improve a student’s chances of reaching that graduation hallmark. To help students meet this goal, PLU’s Summer Sessions offers a variety of courses across disciplines. Many options fulfill general education requirements and can help students stay on schedule for graduation.
Student participation in Summer Sessions provides many benefits, but not all students are able to come to campus. During the summer months, students may be returning home, working a summer job, completing an internship, or participating in other activities that draw them away from campus. Online summer courses extend the PLU learning experience beyond the confines of campus and offer schedule flexibility.
In a summer 2016 survey of online students, 88% of respondents reported satisfaction with the online format of their course.
“I liked being able to work around my own schedule, with work etc.
The flexibility was wonderful!”
