Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan

Introduction

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our entire staff. In accordance with the Washington Industrial Safety & Health Act (WISHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard WAC 296-823 and Infectious Waste Management Pierce Co. Code 8.38, PLU has developed the following exposure control plan to eliminate or minimize employee occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials as detailed in the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (BBP).

Employees who have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material (OPIM) must follow the procedures and work practices in this plan.

Employees can review this plan at any time during their work shifts.  This Plan as well as the direct link to the Standard is available to all employees, including temporary, part-time, per-diem, and contract workers, and can be found on the PLU website, as part of the larger PLU Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
