Music Therapy at PLU
The Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy at Pacific Lutheran University prepares students for national board certification (MT-BC) through a rigorous and integrated course of study. The curriculum combines scientific foundations, clinical preparation, and reflective practice, emphasizing research-informed approaches to health, well-being, and human connection. Students build a strong understanding of psychology, neuroscience, and healthcare practice, developing the analytical and interpersonal skills essential for effective, evidence-based clinical work. Guided by experienced faculty and practicing clinicians, students learn to apply scientific understanding with empathy, creativity, and ethical care.
Rooted in PLU’s mission to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care, the program reflects the university’s commitment to uniting intellectual rigor with compassion and purpose—preparing graduates to use music as a catalyst for healing, growth, and community well-being.
